Should children be riding on ATVs?

A recent article in Neurosurgical Focus concluded that “individuals with light weights and small wingspans, such as those in the pediatric population, are under considerable risk of injury when operating an ATV due to lateral, longitudinal, and vertical operational instability.”  In plain english, this means that children are not heavy enough and do not have long enough arms or legs to keep ATVs stable.  For your convenience, you can read the medical journal article here.  Please bear this in mind as we enter hunting season and many young people are out on three and four wheelers.  ATVs are a lot of fun, but you certainly need to bear aware of the risk involved.
