Nikon Recalls Battery Packs due to Burn Hazard

Nikon has recently recalled battery packs sold in its Digital SLR Cameras due to a defect causing it to short circuit. The packs pose a significant burn injury risk, as the problem will cause the packs to overheat and even melt. To date, there have been seven incidents of the packs overheating, but no reports of any injuries. If you own a SLR D800 or D7000 camera, check the serial number of the battery pack. If the ninth character is not an “E” or an “F”, then your pack is not part of the Nikon recall.

Dalfampridine, used to treat multiple sclerosis, is now believed to cause seizures even at normal doses. There appears to be a clear link, according to MedPage Today, between the medication and seizures even in patients with no seizure history. The issue is believed to be related to the medication causing kidney impairment. You may want to discuss this with your doctor if he or she prescribes Dalfampridine.

Cribs sold at JCPenney recalled

Rockland Furniture drop-side cribs have been recalled because the cribs’ drop sides have a defect that allows them to malfunction, detach or otherwise fail. If this happens, the drop side falls out of position which can allow a child to suffer serious personal injury or even death.

This recall includes Rockland Furniture brand drop-side cribs imported and sold by JC Penney from 2005 to 2008. The wooden cribs used plastic hardware to attach the drop side. “Rockland Furniture” and the model number can be found on a rectangular label located on the lower portion of the headboard panel. The following six drop-side crib models are included in this recall:

343-8124 Nightingale Spindle Drop-Side Crib
343-8280 Cottage Standard Drop-Side Crib Version 1
343-8271 Cottage Standard Drop-Side Crib Version 2
343-9105 Drop-Side Crib and Changer
343-8191 Renew Standard Drop-Side Crib
343-8192 Renew Convertible Drop-Side Crib

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Nan Far Woodworking for a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop side. In the meantime, find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on the child’s age.
