Kourtney I. Ballew

I was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and grew up in New Hope, Alabama. I graduated valedictorian of my class in 2002 from New Hope High School. I attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I earned a B.A. in Philosophy with a minor in Political Science in 2006. Upon entering law school at The University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi, I was actively involved in moot court and was a Quarterfinalist at the Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition. I served as a Guardian ad Litem in the Civil Legal Clinic and worked with the Mississippi Innocence Project. After graduating in 2010, I moved back to Huntsville to practice law.

I am fortunate to be able to work with the community on a daily basis. As a criminal defense and domestic relations attorney, the majority of my clients are in stressful situations that can be unfamiliar and life-altering. My goal is to give each person insight into these often difficult times. I strive to provide high-quality legal work combined with a personalized experience in order to yield the best results for each of my clients.

I also handle administrative law issues and represent City and County employees who have disciplinary actions pending against them. Whether you are facing reprimand, temporary suspension, demotion or dismissal, employees of the City and County are afforded procedural opportunities to protect their employment status. I routinely consult with and advise those employees to ensure they are given the opportunity to address the disciplinary actions against them and, in many cases, fight for their job.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, who is also an attorney, and our four rescue dogs. I love to cook, spend time with friends and family, listen to music, and occasionally sing a little karaoke.
